The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  South central Franklin County in northern New York...
  Southeastern St. Lawrence County in northern New York...

* Until 130 AM EDT.

* At 102 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Horseshoe
  Lake, moving southeast at 55 mph.

  HAZARD...Two inch hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Law enforcement.

  IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
           damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect 
           considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to 
           mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Clifton, Piercefield, Colton, Fine, Tupper Lake, Cranberry Lake,
  Conifer, Horseshoe Lake, Shurtleff, and Wanakena.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

If on or near Cranberry and Horeshoe Lakes, get away from the water 
and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike 
out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear 
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to 
safe shelter now!  Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
