The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Eastern Harvey County in south central Kansas...
  Chase County in east central Kansas...
  Northwestern Butler County in south central Kansas...
  Southern Marion County in central Kansas...

* Until 715 PM CDT.

* At 617 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 11 miles northeast of Florence to near Peabody,
  moving east at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail 
           damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect 
           wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Newton, Halstead, Marion, North Newton, Sedgwick, Peabody,
  Cottonwood Falls, Whitewater, Strong City, Florence, Potwin,
  Walton, Elbing, Burns, Bazaar, Elmdale, Matfield Green, Cedar
  Point, Newton Airport, and Hymer.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 23 and 37.
 Interstate 35 near Mile Marker 110, and between Mile Markers 113 and
116.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for south central,
central and east central Kansas.
