The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Western Catawba County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Northwestern Lincoln County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  North central Cleveland County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Southeastern Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 651 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 13 miles southeast of Morganton, or 4 miles northeast
  of Casar, moving northeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
  Mountain View around 710 PM EDT.
  Hickory, St. Stephens, and Conover around 720 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this dangerous thunderstorm include
Cooksville, Propst, Pleasant Grove, and Startown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
