...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM EDT
FOR NORTHWESTERN MOORE...SOUTHEASTERN ANSON...MONTGOMERY...CENTRAL
RICHMOND AND RANDOLPH COUNTIES...

At 523 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 11 miles west of Asheboro to 6 miles north of Troy to
7 miles northwest of Rockingham, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Asheboro, Rockingham, Randleman, Troy, North Carolina Zoo, Hamlet,
Biscoe, Seagrove, Ellerbe, and Star.

This includes Interstate 73 between Mile Markers 26 and 86.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can
develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not
immediately likely, if one is spotted act quickly and move to a place
of safety inside a sturdy structure, such as a basement or small
interior room.

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
