Internet-Based HF Radio Receivers
The advent of modern computing and high speed analog to digital (A/D) converters paved the way for the development of software defined radios (SDR). These radios are implemented almost 100% in software versus traditional physical components. SDR technology has the potential to revolutionize ham radio making high-end receiver performance available at a VERY affordable cost. It also makes it possible for multiple listeners to simultaneously tune different frequencies using an online SDR radio. As a result, there are currently over 1,000 HF SDR radio receivers worldwide that you can access FREE via the internet. The available platforms include WebSDR, OpenWebRX, and KiWiSDR.
